KEPT YOU WAITING, HUH

Fancied doing an Opera Omnia post, so here we go! Last time out we covered Act 1 Chapter 3, in which Seifer ran around posturing a lot and actually legitimately not that much else happened. But things are going to be a bit spicier this time, as we come face-to-face with some Final Fantasy VI! And I am going to try and keep this more focused on interesting moments rather than regaling y'all with every detail of every single moment.

LET'S DO THIS THING. Chapter 4 is called Snowy Peaks of Crudelis, and features new characters from Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, and Final Fantasy XII.

...And the pieces of this puzzle will fall into place soon enough. )

This is arguably a more plotty chapter than the last one, but I think it's a lot less fun all in all. There's something just endlessly entertaining about Seifer and company, I guess! Regardless, though, next chapter includes the introduction of Laguna (which is exciting!), and Maester Seymour (which is seymour), and a few others as well. For now, though...

CHARACTERS INTRODUCED: Terra, Penelo, Kefka, Yang, Onion Knight
*italicised characters not recruited/playable

p.s. I live in Canada now! I've been here for... almost a month?! Almost a month already. My god.

HELLO AND WELCOME TO MORE... Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia! Last time we checked in with our scattered heroes, Kuja was gathering an army of beasts with the desire to try and change his fate. Zidane and the other gathered heroes continue their quest to close Torsions, but resolve to try and stop Kuja along the way.

Which brings us to the present, and Chapter Three! This chapter features some new additions to the party, joining us from Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy Type-0. There's a nice little bit of Vaan at one point, and also a bunch of sudden unexpected Seifer Almasy! Not to mention the rest of the Disciplinary Committee.

Chapter Three is the Lost Kingdom Of Thronus. Given what we learned last time about how this world is conjured from a mish-mash of memories, that's an oddly specific name! What was Thronus, and why is it lost? WHO CARES, LET'S GO.

This post is way longer than the first two because Seifer never shuts up and we love that about him. ) This is probably for the best, though, because this entry feels a lot longer than the others. I keep saying I'm only going to highlight the interesting character moments rather than trying to summarise the whole story, and then I more-or-less hit it all beat by beat anyways, oop.

CHARACTERS INTRODUCED: Yuffie, Seifer, Raijin, Fujin, Edge, Yuna, King, Bartz
*italicised characters not recruited/playable

NEXT TIME: We get to encounter another major Final Fantasy antagonist, as well as recruit some more main protagonists as well. But who cares about that, we also get P E N E L O. What else matters. (love u, girl.)

It was a very long wait for this update, but I swear I am still around! Apart from slowly making these journal posts, I've been playing Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and I've recently started Octopath Traveller as well. Perhaps next time I will write up some thoughts about one of those! Or, like, actually talk about the significant things happening in my actual life, ghdjfksl. WHO KNOWS.

Back at it again! Just going to cover one more story chapter for now though. We left the cast travelling off in search of torsions in need of sealing, under the guidance of Mog. And they arrive somewhere new, landing the airship as close as they can to their destination.

And so! Chapter Two: Ruins of Deserta! Spoilers: It's in a desert. )

CHARACTERS INTRODUCED: Zidane, (Dark Knight) Cecil, Yda, Vaan.

I actually started playing Opera Omnia for the first time right around the Global First release of Beatrix as a playable character. Loving Final Fantasy IX hours never end in this house, so how could I possibly resist. I've been playing for over two years now, and honestly it's become my main mobile game and almost my only mobile game. Love Live: School Idol Festival held the crown for so many years, but it's kind of nice that something as nostalgic as a Final Fantasy-based RPG would rise once again to take a place in my heart.

Completely unrelated to any of that, I have been making Pokémon icons lately! I went and saved a whole bunch of art from Pokémon TCG cards and I've just been slowly working my way through stuff that catches my eye ever since. And soon, I will reach... Snubbull >:)

For now though, it is dinner time! Yakitori get inside me.

As mentioned in my last journal entry, I'm gonna start recording some notes from Dissida Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia! I'll probably try to cover one main story chapter per relevant post, and a few Lost Chapter recruitments as well.

Which means we're starting at the start today, Chapter 1: Primus Island! Which, straight up, is a pretty boring and uneventful introduction to the conceit of the game, so there isn't much to say. I should mention that I'm mostly just recording little character moments, dialogue I like, ideas I enjoy, that sort of thing. This isn't meant to be a summary of the overall story of Opera Omnia, though I'll provide context when it's necessary.

Anyway, Primus Island! A Knight, A Dad, Their Daughter and Their Son. )

CHARACTERS INTRODUCED: Goddess Materia, Mog (DFFOO), Warrior of Light, Vivi, Rem, Sazh, Kuja, Tifa, Cloud, Hope, Y'shtola.
*italicised characters not recruited/playable

That's really all there is to say for Chapter 1! But let's go look at the first few Lost Chapters as well. These are additional story events that allow you to recruit more characters into your roster. And the very first character event DFFOO offered was... Squall Leonhart!

A Lion's Heart )

Squall isn't too surprising of a first choice for one of these character events. Next up, though, was Vanille from Final Fantasy XIII! I'm not really too sure how popular Vanille is, but that does make three FFXIII characters already in the roster at this early point. I'm not actually sure how many main story chapters were already available on release, mind you...

WHATEVER, onwards!

The Girl From Oerba )

Not much more to say, though! I gotta try not to let my biases get too much in the way, but there are definitely some characters/games I care about more than others. There's even a few Lost Chapter characters I actively dislike, but I will try to behave myself and do them some sort of justice when we get that far.

For now, though, that's enough! We'll make sure to do more story chapter next time, since a bunch of folks are showing up in the Lost Chapters. And hopefully we'll find out just what that naughty boy Kuja is up to. Whatever it is? I Support Him.
