snowflake challenge #8!

Still picking my way through this! Challenge #8 today is about making a wishlist, which is simultaneously a fun idea and a very embarrassing one. I don't really like asking for things! But let's see what we can do with this. What fandom or fannish things would I like to see come to fruition in 2021? Well...

✿❀ Wish Number One is always more Rideaux content. I don't care if it's fanfiction, fan art, meta, graphics, icons—just Rideaux, always and forever Rideaux. There are plenty of Tales characters I love! But Rideaux has the unfortunate distinction of being a huge personal favourite AND a fairly unpopular secondary antagonist. So yeah. Rideaux content, forever and always.

Frankly, I'm surprised we have as much official side material for him as we do! Like, there's... a poster? Right? And he features in some CD dramas and side stories, which is. nice... And he was in that one idolmaster collab! Sure, he didn't win the fan poll, but the fact he was even an option was pretty astonishing. But honestly, it's fan material that really makes my heart sing. He's such an awful person, but such an interesting and tragic one, and I'll always be ready for more people to meet me there.

✿❀ Wish Number Two would be... icon/graphic making tutorials! I was getting back into icon making for a little while there, but I've kind of ground to a halt again at the moment and would really love to recapture some of that inspiration. Part of the problem is that I only have access to free download editing programs (I use GIMP, though I keep meaning to switch to a similar alternative), and a lot of the tutorials that do exist out there simply aren't easily compatible with what GIMP offers.

But I absolutely love seeing what other iconmakers are doing to get such beautiful results, and tutorials really help highlight all the different methods and approaches we have. I love seeing that! So yeah, icon tutorials c:

✿❀ Wish Number Three, I wish for another fiction exchange like highadrenalineexchange this year! Maybe even more than one! Writing over 20k of original fiction in two weeks was an incredible and inspiring experience for me, and I want to recapture that feeling again and again! The parameters of the exchange just worked super duper well for me, and I'd love to see more high volume short timeframe exchanges running this year. Especially while so many of us are still living within social lockdowns and other pandemic-instigated living situations. Fingers very crossed!

✿❀ Wish Number Four is more a personal wish for myself than anything else, which I guess makes it more akin to a goal. But I'm putting it here anyway! I wish to, if not finish Whoever Dies First, Wins this year, then at least double the word count. This story is getting done, there's still so much left to tell, and I want to keep on keeping on! Never give up, never surrender!

✿❀ Wish Number Five, and I guess my final wish as I'm finding this pretty difficult, will be... snubbulls ;-; all snubbulls, always snubbulls, always and forever many many more snubbulls. I have some other things I'd like to see this year, or like to see happen this year, but so much of it really is on me to make happen. So lets go with this. Snubbulls. What the world needs now is snubbulls.

Right now, the only thing I wish for is success in Ultimecia's Castle when I get back to FFVIII tonight! I've replayed the PS1-era Final Fantasy games so, so many times, and I generally have all the main plot and locations pretty well memorised. But Ultimecia's Castle always seems to slip from my memory between plays*, making it into this fresh new game of Gothic Cluedo each and every time I return. But I love it for that! It's such a great location. And I think we found about half the power-sealing bosses last night, so here's hoping we can finish the job this evening! Not long until I'll be rolling credits once again, wahhhh.

I'm not familiar with Pokemon so had to look up Snubbull, lol.

Those are some great wishes. I'm a novice icon maker and it would be really useful tutorials, I love the effects icon makers get. I have no editing program so my icons are currently very basic!
