I am honestly quite distressed about only having six icon slots! How is that ever going to be enough? sob!

It's taken me ages to actually set this up, as I was struggling to choose a username. That implies that I intend to use this journal with some level of frequency, which is an utter untruth. I mean, who knows, perhaps it will see a lot of use. But that's not exactly the plan. Regardless, though, after a lot of consideration, I finally settled on aestivalis. An aestivalis is, in this context, basically a mecha. I wanted to use a word associated to the anime Martian Successor Nadesico, and settled on that.

I was going to write some stuff about why I like Martian Successor here, but I think... in a silly way, I'm almost too sentimentally attached to give a very accurate review. And it is a very silly series, very intentionally ridiculous. But it's a fantastically affectionate reflection on both mecha anime and the way people respond to anime, a real subversive parody with the odd aesop: don't try to live your life like your anime heroes do, anime =/= reality. I don't know, this series has a huge place in my heart, and helped me develop how I register and respond to series' now, so... aestivalis :>

So! My default is Akito Tenkawa of said show. I also have a Tales of Symphonia and a Revolutionary Girl Utena, with the overall theme of THESE ICONS SURE ARE CHEERFUL. I wonder how I should use the other three slots...?
